Pool and outdoor living permits, sealed where the site is not covered by the shell

A pool shell often arrives with the manufacturer’s engineering. The building department still asks for the work that shell does not cover: equipment pads, bond beams at grade changes, retaining, and the electrical that serves the equipment. AllPEStamp reviews that site-specific scope and seals it with a professional engineer licensed in the project state.

  • Pools, spas, outdoor kitchens, and pool houses
  • Site-specific structure around a manufacturer shell
  • Retaining and equipment pads when grade changes
  • Electrical sealed when the permit requires a PE

What still needs a stamp after the shell is engineered

If the pool manufacturer already sealed the shell for your design loads, those sheets do not need a second stamp. Plan check comments usually point at everything else: the surcharge on a nearby footing, a raised spa, a retaining wall at the waterline, an equipment slab, and bonding or feeder design for the pump and heater.

Outdoor kitchens, fire features, and pool houses are separate structures. A pool house with a roof is closer to an accessory building and should be quoted that way when the city permits it separately.

What to upload

Send the site plan, the manufacturer’s sealed shell drawings if you have them, any retaining or deck sheets, and the electrical one-line for the equipment. A soils report matters when the wall or the shell bears on fill.

Photos of the existing grade help when the pool is going into a slope. If you only have a contractor sketch, say so at intake and CAD drafting can be scoped before sealing.

Seal and price

The engineer seals the discipline they review. Structural and electrical are often different licenses, and both can sit under one quote. We do not reseal a manufacturer package that is already valid for the site.

Pricing is by sheet count, from $100 per sheet down to $25 per sheet. A letter and a detail for an equipment pad is a short set. A sloped lot with retaining and a new pool house is not. Final pricing is confirmed after plan review.

FAQ

Does a swimming pool need a PE stamp?
The shell often comes with manufacturer engineering. You still need a stamp for site-specific structure, retaining, decks, and electrical when the building department requires a PE on that scope.
Can you stamp just the equipment and bonding?
Yes, when that is the open comment. Upload the plan-check letter and the electrical sheets so the review stays on the work that was rejected.
What about an outdoor kitchen or fire pit?
A covered outdoor kitchen is a small structure: posts, roof, and sometimes a gas or electrical run. We seal the engineering sheets the permit asks for. A freestanding fire feature with no structure usually does not need a structural stamp.
How much does a pool permit stamp cost?
The live quote follows sheet count, from $100 per sheet down to $25 per sheet. Scope that is already sealed by the pool manufacturer is not counted again.
